Schoolboy Escape: Runaway is a third-person stealth puzzle game from Mirra Games, a studio founded in Russia in 2018, released for browsers in May 2025 and updated through the autumn of that year. You play a boy who has been grounded and locked in his bedroom by strict parents, and the objective is to get out of the house without being caught. It rides the same premise as the better-known Schoolboy Runaway series, and players arriving from that game will find a similar mood of tiptoeing past adults, but it is a separate title with its own levels and puzzles rather than a chapter of that series.
The first job is the bedroom. A spare key is hidden somewhere in the room, and finding it means opening drawers, checking shelves and moving objects until it turns up. From there the game becomes a house-wide search: cabinets hold tools, tools open locked doors, and some locks need a code that is written down somewhere else in the building. Progress is gated by items rather than by combat, so the loop is look, take, use, repeat, with a hint available on the R key whenever you lose the thread.
The parents are the obstacle. They patrol rooms and hallways on routes you can learn, and if one sees you the attempt ends and you restart. The design pushes you toward distraction rather than speed: leaving an item in a particular spot pulls a parent's attention away from a door, and their vision cones and hearing decide whether a route is safe. Later stages extend beyond the house to the school and to the village outside, so the same rules of search, distract and sneak apply across bigger spaces with more watchers.
The distinctive element compared with a typical escape-room game is that the puzzles live inside a moving stealth space. You cannot stand and think in front of a safe when a parent's route passes through the room every thirty seconds, so the game becomes a matter of planning: memorise the patrol, grab what you need in the gap, and retreat to a safe spot to work out the next step. Cracking a safe with a password you found in another room, then carrying its contents past a patrol, is the shape of a typical level.
It suits players who like escape-room logic but find static room games too slow, fans of Schoolboy Runaway and Granny-style hide-and-seek games who want something lower on horror, and anyone who enjoys the tension of sneaking without the violence that usually comes with stealth games. Puzzle purists may find the hint key makes things too easy, in which case leaving it alone is the obvious fix.
On LemonArcade it runs free in the browser with no download or account, on desktop with keyboard and mouse and on mobile with a joystick and on-screen buttons. A level takes ten to twenty minutes depending on how much searching you do, and difficulty comes from patrol timing rather than from any punishment beyond a restart. It is an HTML5 3D game, so the first load pulls in the house assets and takes a few seconds on slower connections.
